Fudo Enterprise | GUI - Time Server

Why is time server configuration important?

In security and administration systems, time consistency is very important. If a device operates with an incorrect date or time, this can cause problems with log analysis, event correlation, reporting, and later reconstruction of session activity.

In the case of Fudo Enterprise, a properly configured time server helps ensure:

  • consistent event timestamps in logs,
  • correct session chronology,
  • greater reliability of administrative data,
  • easier troubleshooting,
  • better preparation of the environment for further configuration.

This is one of those elements that is worth configuring right at the beginning, before moving on to the next stages of deployment.

What does the video show?

The video shows how to begin configuring the Fudo Enterprise appliance from the graphical interface and move to one of the basic settings, namely time server configuration.

This is a very short material, but it covers an important administrative step that should be included in practically every properly prepared environment.

How to configure the time server in Fudo Enterprise

The process is simple and fast, but it is worth doing it consciously.

  1. Log in to the GUI
After starting Fudo Enterprise, go to the system’s graphical interface and log in to the administrative account.
  2. Go to the time settings
In the next step, locate the section responsible for time and synchronization settings. This is where you can specify the time server from which the appliance will retrieve current data.
  3. Configure the time server
Next, enter the appropriate time source used in your environment. This allows the system to maintain the correct date and time without the need to set these values manually.
  4. Save the changes and verify the settings
After saving the configuration, it is worth making sure that the system is already operating with the correct time and that the settings have been applied properly. This is a good moment to confirm that the environment is ready for the next administrative steps.

When is the best time to perform this step?

Time server configuration is best done at a very early stage of deployment – right after the basic appliance startup and before further advanced system configuration.

Thanks to this, from the very beginning:

  • logs will have correct timestamps,
  • sessions will be recorded in the proper order,
  • event analysis will be easier,
  • the whole environment will be more consistent from an administrative perspective.

Summary

Configuring the time server in Fudo Enterprise is one of the basic steps worth performing immediately after system startup. It is a quick task, but it has a real impact on proper environment operation, log consistency, and the convenience of further administration.

In the video, we show how to do this from the Fudo Enterprise GUI in a simple and fast way.
